Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a form of yoga that aims to achieve a physical, mental and emotional relaxation using accessories (blocks, bolsters, blankets, etc.). The use of accessories helps maintain balance while you stimulate and relax your body.


While some restorative yoga postures are beneficial for the whole body, or some of them like the shoulders, others postures target internal parts like organs, such as the heart or lungs.

The origins of restorative yoga
The current restorative yoga is derived from a yoga style, invented by B.K.S. Iyengar, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest yoga masters in the world. Iyengar asked his students to use props to perfect their poses.
His teachings are now known as Iyengar Yoga, which is the foundation of the development of restorative yoga. Later, Judith Lasater, one of Iyengar’s students, made restorative yoga a popular form of yoga around the world.

Restorative yoga helps heal the body and mind. Especially useful for eliminating fatigue and stress resulting from your daily life.
This can help you recover from an illness or injury or overcome emotional depression or anxiety. It is known that restorative yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which allows automatic control of the body.
As such, the regular nervous system will rest and the muscles will be more relaxed.
Regular practice of restorative yoga makes your body less vulnerable to stress-related illnesses and helps you improve your health and well-being.

Poses / Asanas
Many restorative yoga poses are similar to the usual Asanas, except that its are performed with the support of props.
Before starting the poses, warm up with modified Sun Salutations or a gentle flow of vinyasa. Each restorative yoga pose should be held for a few minutes, even 10 to 12 minutes.

Duration
Classes are 75 minutes long.

Intensity
We offer beginner and level 1-2 courses (slightly advanced)

Equipment
We provide you with Lululemon quality mats and material (blocks, straps, ...) but you can bring your own mat if you prefer.

It is better to book and pay for your course online because our places are limited by space and some courses are more popular than others.

COURSES LEVEL

The first months of the opening of the studio, we mainly offer beginner classes. Then we plan to add level 2 and 3 courses.
